Happy Halloween!

Remember to stay in groups, let your parents check your candy, take a flash light, and never go inside anyone house!

Reading Machine!

Lately my family has been engrossed in books! My daughter just started reading her first R. L. Stine - Goosebumps book. I cannot believe it. I've been saving those book since I was a pre-teen.  My son, has been down right demanding for bedtimes stories. As for myself, I just finish another Janet Evanovich book.

We had a parent teacher conference the other day and I learned that my daughter is above average on her reading and comprehension.  Her teacher also said she is very talented in creative writing.  Maybe one day my daughter and I will write a book together.

Must.. keep.. going!

Sorry, the name title was my lame attempt to be funny.

Yesterday, I was feeling very discouraged. I've decided that I am not going to feel like that again. I wrote a book, I've had it illustrated, and I've had it published! Is my book a masterpiece? Probably not, but I am still proud of it. Could it have been better? Absolutely.  Am I going to let that stop me? No! Because I have learned from it.

I will continue to strive for excellence. I will continue to learn and improve my techniques. Many people have bad things to say about Tate Publishing. I'm sorry, but I got my book out. I didn't write it to become rich and famous. I wrote it for my children. I wrote it to make them proud of me. I wrote it to say "Hey, I love to write and this is my product."

Goal Accomplished!

My children are proud of me. They can now say "Look at what my mom did!" Everything else after this point is just a plus. I wanted my book to come out so bad I was willing to self-publish.  I know, "but you're with Tate Publishing, you did self publish." I don't feel comfortable calling them a self-publisher. I've looked into self-publishing companies their set up is completely different. So, I did pay a fee. It was worth it! I have a beautiful book. I have beautiful illustrations that I sure as heck could not have drawn. They have sent me posters, business cards, and much more.

Don't misinterpret my intentions of this post. I am not trying to tell everyone to sign with Tate Publishing. They may or may not be a perfect fit for your needs.  The point of this post is that I am proud at what I accomplished.  That's the important part. You set a goal and you strive to achieve it.

Peaked Out Already?

I was so excited that my book was available worldwide! Here it is 5 days after the "release" of my book and I found that Barnes and Noble is no longer carrying my book. I found that a lot of online book stores are not carrying my book anymore. I don't know if it was because pre-orders didn't do well or what.  I think that my publishers should have let me know that my book was available for pre-orders. Maybe I could have advertised more. I also know that press-releases were supposed to be issued over the release of my book and that too didn't happen.  Wal-mart has lowered the price of my book and pushed the shipping date way back.

I am sorry. I am feeling down in the dumps, as well as, actually being sick.  Could my book have peaked already? Could I have done something different? Could my publisher have done something different?

Looking For Craft Ideas For Halloween?

I recently saw a picture on pinterest that I think I am going to have to try with my kids or with my Girl Scout Troop.  It's a cute way to make a pumpkin.

Materials:
*Aluminum dryer hose
*Hot glue gun w/ glue
*Cardboard
*Paint & glitter (your choice of colors)

You wrap the dryer hose in a circle and hot glue it together. You could either paint it first or do it after. I recommend after.  Craft a handle/stem out of the cardboard and then hot glue it on.

Pre-Order My Book!

Good afternoon everyone!  I am very thrilled to announce that my book is now available for pre-order at barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com, tatepublishing.com and of course here!  If you purchase a copy from my blogspot page, I will autograph it! I am getting very excited as my October 15th release date draws near!
